Creating an IWebService using the Compiled Module project?

Feb 12, 2009 at 8:08 AM

I’m going to create a Webservice for my dotnetnuke portal, and I’ve been following your tutorial on the IWeb-module and that works fine. But that tutorial assumes that you develop your modules directly in the DotNetNuke Websolution

What if I develop my modules using the Compiled DNN Module – HOW am I going to get the webservice to work properly on my development computer?

The exposed webservices MUST, as far as I can tell, be located in the App_Code/IWeb/IWebMethods folder, and using the Compiled DNN Module project, I am not able to include that folder in my Webservice project? – thus I am not able to debug the webservice.

I hope someone can give me a hint on this one.

One other thing (OFF-TOPIC): When developing a module that CONSUMES an external webservice - does anyone have an example on HOWTO?

With IWeb the web service must be in the App_Code folder. However debug shoudl still work. I cannot imagine why it does not work for you.

You can see an example of a DNN module calling out to a web service here:

Well, maybe I'm creating the project wrong ?

I usually create a Compiled project in the DesktopModules folder - should I create it in the iWebMethods-folder instead?
